This implies that The Next Karate Kid changed its name, while Cobra Kai kept the name it had previously given.

However, another interesting fact is that the name given in The Karate Kid Part II is not the original name given to Miyagi. In The Karate Kid (1984), Miyagi’s dog tags, attached to the keys to the 1948 Ford he gave Daniel for his birthday, briefly show that Miyagi’s first name is Hideo. I’m glad I was wrong
I grew up a fan of Karate Kid, but I wasn’t sure what to expect and thought it would be a cheap way to get some cash for the kids. It’s so much better than any business, especially William Zabka! He’s the absolute star of the show as Johnny Lawrence.
You root for him more than Daniel (Ralph Macchio) in this movie
